In 2019, over 2,000 organizations raised $19.4 million on Giving Tuesday through 174,000 donations on Classy. Fundraising Software Platform Stability
On high-traffic days, several key components work in the background to ensure a smooth, safe experience.
We’re constantly observing platform performance and server capacity in order to protect our clients and the experience they provide their donors. We make insights immediately available on the Classy Status Page.
Classy’s platform constantly examines our server capacity and automatically adjusts to maintain steady, predictable performance regardless of the number of donations being processed.
We use enterprise-class DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service) and WAF (Web Application Firewall) protection to ensure our platform’s security and prevent malicious activity. Classy is always PCI compliant to ensure data security.

Informed Third-Party Partners
Classy notifies our partners (such as payment processors and web service providers) when we anticipate high volume around key giving days and the year-end season. This allows them to ensure their own systems are adequately prepared and ready to work in congress with our own measures.
Platform Optimizations and Enhancements
In addition to the platform stability measurements taken above, we constantly assess our own performance in order to best understand how to enhance and further improve the experience for our customers and their donors.
Since 2019’s giving season, we upgraded our AWS database infrastructure to safeguard our payment handling and ensure we are able to quickly process transactions during exceptionally high-traffic periods of time.
Load Testing and Performance Analysis
In addition to annual penetration testing and network level vulnerability scanning, since 2019, we’ve also conducted numerous load tests in order to identify and prevent potential bottleneck conditions that could occur on high-volume giving days and peak hours. Through this analysis and additional performance monitoring, we’re proud to report that we’ve demonstrated a consistent ability to scale for increased demand on high-volume days such as Giving Tuesday.
We’ve also taken care to improve our experience for Classy for Salesforce Users. Through Parallel Processing, we are able to ensure immediate access to donor data, regardless of volume.

Year-End Production Freeze
While our team is always hard at work to build new features for our customers, we understand that stability during the busiest time of the year is of the utmost importance. From November to January, even though we pause releasing new code, our team is still working on building new product features. This keeps our team focused on safeguarding our customers’ campaigns for this high-traffic time of the year.

December 31, 2019
Just a few short weeks after Giving Tuesday 2019, Classy processed over $27 million on the final day of the year. Nearly 90 thousand donations were processed, making it the highest grossing day in our company’s history.
Giving Tuesday Now 2020
On May 5, 2020, organizations quickly rallied on Classy to come together and raise emergency response funds in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In a matter of 24 hours, organizations on Classy raised over $10 million.
